Meet our amazing fiber artist and textile designer. Zuzana’s work is heavily influenced by tradition and traditional crafts. Her work is inspired by the idea of repurposing traditional craft techniques into contemporary designs, with geometry style designs being central to her work.
We chatted the other day about her passion for crafting - here are a few snippets:
What’s your favourite material to craft with?
All natural fibers like cotton threads, linen, hemp fabrics and wool.
When did you first find your passion for making things?
I have been making things ever since I can remember. I think I started with making very crude clothes for my dolls held together by safety pins. And then my mum taught me how to knit when I was about 10-11 years old. But I didn’t start to embroider until I was in college.
What are three things that you would like to teach somebody who is new to crafting?
There’s just one thing really, and that is that crafting is about enjoying the process just as much as the final result!
What craft skill would you like to learn?
Letterpress printing and glass blowing
What one thing have you made that you’re most proud of?
It’s always the last project that I have just finished and then I move onto the next one.
